An open house

The Hamidiye Mosque is an open house for everyone – for members of our community as well as for neighbours, school classes, curious visitors and people of other faiths or none. Many guests wonder what to keep in mind before their first visit. The good news: it is easier than you might think.

Before you come

If you are coming as a group – for example a school class or a club – please let us know in advance by email at info@hamidiye-frankfurt.de. That way someone can take time for you and answer your questions.

In the prayer hall

  • Shoes off: the prayer hall is carpeted, and the carpet is where people pray. That is why everyone takes off their shoes before entering.
  • Keep it quiet: the mosque is first and foremost a house of prayer. Please switch your phone to silent and speak softly.
  • Do not disturb people praying: do not walk directly in front of someone who is praying, and keep the prayer areas clear.
  • Clothing: modest clothing shows respect for the place. If you are unsure, just ask – we are happy to help.
  • Photos and filming: please agree any recording inside the mosque with the board beforehand.

When is a good time?

During the five daily prayers the prayer hall is busy and people are in devotion. The time between prayers is better for a chat. You will find the current prayer times, our house rules and directions in the links below.
