Good neighbours: how we live well together

Our mosque is right in the middle of Frankfurt's old town. To keep relations with our neighbours good, every small gesture counts – from parking to a quiet walk home.

In the heart of the city

The Hamidiye Mosque is on the street Hinter der schönen Aussicht, just a few minutes' walk from Börneplatz. Many people live and work around us – and a good relationship with them matters a great deal to us. The Quran, too, explicitly calls for kindness to “the neighbour who is near of kin and the neighbour who is a stranger” (Surah 4, verse 36).

Best by bus and tram

The Börneplatz stop (tram 11, 12, 14 and 18, bus 30 and M36) is about a four-minute walk away, the Dom/Römer underground station (U4, U5) about eight minutes. Coming by public transport saves you looking for parking – and takes pressure off the street.

If you come by car

  • Only park in permitted spaces or in a car park, for example the Dom Römer car park (Domstraße 1).
  • Do not double-park or park on the pavement, in front of driveways or garages.
  • Do not use residents' or private parking spaces.
  • Switch off your engine while waiting – and ideally share cars.

Arriving and leaving quietly

  • Keep quiet when arriving and leaving – especially early in the morning and late in the evening.
  • Do not stand around in large groups in front of neighbouring houses.
  • Leave no litter behind – we keep our street clean.

Thank you for helping. That way the Hamidiye Mosque stays a good neighbour.
