What you need
- 1 sheet of coloured paper (A4)
- 1 narrow strip of paper for the handle
- Scissors, glue and a ruler
- Crayons, stickers or glitter for decorating
How to do it
- Fold the sheet in half lengthways.
- Starting from the fold, cut slits about 2 cm apart. Important: do not cut all the way to the edge – leave about 3 cm!
- Unfold the sheet and roll it into a tube. Glue the short edges together.
- Gently press the lantern together from the top and bottom so the strips bulge outwards.
- Glue the paper strip to the top as a handle. Done!
Tip
Decorate your lantern with stars and moons first. Please do not put a real candle inside – paper burns quickly! A small LED light is safe. And ask a grown-up to help you with the scissors.
